Cooleman Mountain is a quiet forest camp for exploring northern Kosciuszko on foot or by bike. Return to the shelter of the gums after a day among the park’s limestone formations.
Mountain and snow gums shelter the sites, and the Cooleman Plain karst landscape is a short drive away. Coolamine Homestead is another nearby heritage stop; check NPWS for access before building a day around it.

Getting there
Cooleman Mountain campground is in the northern precinct of Kosciuszko National Park. To get there: From either Tumut Visitor Centre or Adaminaby, drive along Snowy Mountains Highway. Turn onto Long Plain Road. Drive north along Long Plain Road for about 17km, then turn right onto Blue Waterholes trail. After 2.5km, you’ll arrive at the campground. Road access: Unsealed roads; 2WD vehicles; 4WD required in wet weather.
