Hungry Gate gives coastal campers space to spread out without losing the shelter of the dunes. Walk to the sand, then return to a simple, open campground.
There are 20 sites behind the dunes and the beach is about a ten-minute walk away. Fig trees and paperbarks add shelter inland, while the open layout leaves space for tents and camper trailers.

Getting there
From Kempsey: Take the South West Rocks road to Kinchela. Turn right onto Hat Head Road and continue to Hat Head. Just before the bridge over turn right onto Gap Road. Take the first right and then follow signs to Hungry Gate campground. Road access: Unsealed roads; 2WD vehicles; 4WD required in wet weather.
