Long Plain Hut marks the pastoral history of northern Kosciuszko. Camp nearby and use the open country as a launch point for trails and outdoor days.
The weatherboard hut is more than a century old and gives the high-plains site a strong heritage anchor. Set up nearby, then head out on foot, bike or horseback through the surrounding snow gums and candlebarks.

Getting there
Long Plain Hut campground is in the High Plains area of Northern Kosciuszko National Park. To get there: From Cooma: Take Snowy Mountains Highway towards Kiandra and Mt Selwyn around 124km. Turn right onto Long Plain Road and drive 5km along the unsealed road. Turn left onto the access road for Long Plain Hut and follow 1km to the campground. From Tumut Visitor Centre: Take Snowy Mountains Highway south towards Talbingo and Kiandra around 75km. Turn left onto Long Plain Road and drive 5km along the unsealed road. Turn left onto the access road for Long Plain Hut and follow 1km to the campground. Road access: Most roads suitable for 2WD vehicles; 4WD required in wet weather.
