Wares Yards offers a practical stop just off Snowy Mountains Highway. Set up near the open plains and use it to explore northern Kosciuszko’s riding country.
Snow gums shelter the site near Tantangara Dam, with room for horse-camping setups. Boggy, Nungar and Kellys plains give riders and walkers several nearby directions to explore.

Getting there
Wares Yards campground is in the northern precinct of Kosciuszko National Park. To get there: From Tumut Visitor Centre: Drive along Snowy Mountains Highway for 109.6 km and then turn left onto Tantangara Road. From Adaminaby: Drive along Snowy Mountains Highway for 19.4 km and then turn right onto Tantangara Road. After approximately 7km along Tantangara Road, turn left into Wares Yards campground. Road access: Unsealed roads; 2WD vehicles; 4WD required in wet weather.
