Wakool River camping among red gums, black box and abundant birds.
Whymoul campgrounds lie beside the Wakool River near Barham in Murray Valley National Park. River red gums and black box trees frame an area with more than 100 recorded bird species, including the white-bellied sea-eagle.
Bring binoculars or a fishing rod and spend time along the river. Consult the official map and current water conditions before choosing a site.

Getting there
Whymoul campgrounds are generally not accessible in winter. All roads leading to the campgrounds in the Whymoul area are unsealed. 4WD vehicles recommended. Vehicles must remain on identified formed roads. From Barham, travel 16km north on Moulamein Road. From Deniliquin, travel 82km west via Barham Road then north on Moulamein Road.

- Check booking requirements and current NPWS park alerts before travelling.
- Pets are not permitted; certified assistance animals are excepted.
- Campfires are permitted April to September, subject to current NPWS fire restrictions.
